Association Boards are like any team. Teams go through the 4 Stages of Team Development. Many Boards are stuck in early Stages (1&2) and struggle to reach the 4th and final Stage. A Board stuck in Stages 1 &2 are less effective. Until a Board has reached the 4th and final Stage of Team Development, they are under performing and not delivering the results for which they were elected.

How do you get the Association “From Here to There” without a Strategic Plan? Once the Board is performing, Out of the Fire Fighting Mode and is functioning as a cohesive team, it is important for the Board to start developing a Strategic Plan that lays out the longer-term direction of the Association. It is critical to obtain Owner Inputs as the Strategic Plan is being developed.
